Ahualoa Farms sits on the slopes of Mauna Kea Volcano, on the Big Island of Hawaii. The name of our farm, Ahualoa, is a Hawaiian word that means “Long Cloud” – an appropriate description of the afternoon weather pattern of the Hamakua Coast above Honoka’a Town. It all began in 2005 with some backyard Hawaiian coffee and Macadamia Nut trees that were harvested and sold at a local farmers market. Today, Ahualoa Farms products have become highly praised and sought after worldwide.

In 2005 Mike and Linda Watson “retired” and moved to beautiful Ahualoa, Hawaii. With several acres of Macadamia Nut trees and coffee in their backyard, they began harvesting and roasting the nuts and creating one-of-a kind products for their friends and family. Their products became a hit and they soon began selling at a local farmers market, and as they say…the rest is history! In 2014 Mike and Linda took the next step and opened the Ahualoa Farms certified kitchen and gift shop in nearby Honoka’a, Hi to grow their product lines and business. The business that was built on hard work, love, and quality continued to flourish and turned into a full-time job for the “retired” Mike and Linda. Realizing that it was finally time to slow down and let someone else take Ahualoa Farms to the next level, in 2017 Mike and Linda sold Ahualoa Farms to Chad Cleveland and his family farming operation that was slowly getting pushed out by development in Southern California. For several years the Cleveland Family had been searching for the perfect opportunity to begin their new farming adventure in Hawaii, and once introduced to Mike and Linda, both parties knew that this was the perfect fit! All family, Justin Padgett runs the kitchen, Ryan and Chelsea Fontanilla run the farm, Chad and Kia Cleveland hop between California and Hawaii farms, while “keiki” (kids) Zoie, Ivy, Levi, and Adler provide the “Aloha Spirit!” With a strong passion for farming and family comradery, Ahualoa Farms is excited for what the future has in store! “We feel very grateful to have been given this amazing opportunity to continue our love for farming and family in the most amazing environment. Please come visit and follow us along our journey as we fulfill our dreams of farming with family in Hawaii!”
